Well folks, as we all know, Apple has a very strict software policy for the iPhone. Literally, the brand has a tight-fisted control over the iPhone and seems that it has stationed about 10,000 guards around the software application in the iPhone. Some of us are quite happy with this Apple policy, while some surely aren’t. We users can’t download any other files than the Apple files and our cellphone software doesn’t permit any other application programs. Very recently, Apple rejected a tie up with Sum Microsystems for Java support in the iPhone.
For ignorants, Java is an application development program that is compatible in any software set-up. It has the ’write once, run anywhere’ applications which can be run in run-time on any other program. In the recent years, Sun Microsystems has extended its Java support to several cellphone brands. Even the very weak cellphones have a Java support. Apple’s decision of rejecting the Sun services offer has agitated its many fans and users.
Many authorities call Apple’s rejection of Java a ‘mistake’. It’s true. Apple should change some of its harder-than-brick policies. Or it stands a chance of suffering unpopularity among the other brands.
